Kolkata’s iconic Victoria Memorial and Science City complex have been illuminated with the colors of the Indian national flag following the success of Operation Sindoor. This lighting event was organized to express respect and solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. The illumination began on Tuesday and is expected to continue for several days.
An official from Victoria Memorial stated that while no formal announcement regarding the success of Operation Sindoor has been issued, the Ministry of Culture has directed the use of the theme ‘One Nation, One Heart’ in such displays. The official added that the Victoria Memorial, known for its white marble architecture, has been lit up in the tricolor as a symbol of unity and national pride.
In addition to the Victoria Memorial, the Science City complex, another major landmark in Kolkata, was decorated with tricolor lights. A spokesperson for Science City confirmed that the lighting was done to honor the efforts of the armed forces in ensuring national security. Both sites are located in central Kolkata and attract large numbers of visitors.
Operation Sindoor is a military operation undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces. The illumination of these historic landmarks serves as a public display of respect for the operation and the forces involved. The lighting installations highlight the government’s directive to promote national unity and recognize the armed forces’ role in protecting the country.
